EnergySmart was founded in 1997 and is a charitable entity, fully owned by the Hutt Mana Charitable Trust.  The company is New Zealand’s leading provider of energy efficiency solutions to the residential market.

EnergySmart has more than 120 staff and the dedicated team aims is to enable the supply and installation of simple but effective energy efficient measures to New Zealand households.

EnergySmart is an EECA registered supplier and installer and is able to access government subsidies for its customers.

By working closely with a range of community and government organisations such as local councils, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), Work & Income New Zealand (WINZ), and local District Health Boards (DHBs), we are able to provide free or heavily subsidised home insulation for people who are on a low income, and/or have health-related conditions such as asthma.

Our team has the right mix of technical and professional expertise. We have specific staff to handle client liaison, energy assessments, project management and delivery, and quality control. 

The business was sold by its founders in December 2006 and is now fully owned by the Hutt Mana Charitable Trust, who appoint the company's directors.
